SEND

At Tanners Brook, we want all pupils to thrive and achieve their personal best.  We aim to:

  • Ensure that pupils with SEND receive high quality inclusive teaching and are fully integrated into both curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Enable all pupils with SEND to achieve their academic and personal potential.
  • Create a safe, supportive learning environment that helps pupils with SEND improve their confidence, self-esteem and independence.

A pupil has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them. They have a learning difficulty or disability if they have:

  • A significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or
  • A disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools

At Tanners Brook, we use pupil passports for children on the SEND register to understand key barriers and needs with short term targets set to greater support their access to the curriculum.  It allows us to identify individual strategies that support children with the aim of providing a more inclusive learning environment.

Our SENCO, Mrs Penny Burnett can be contacted on 023 8077 1659 or via email penny.burnett@tannersbrookpri.org.uk if you have any questions or concerns about your child.
